About the Role

A growing construction organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting operations and partner closely with Operations, Project Management, and Executive Leadership. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, process-driven accounting leader who thrives in a fast-paced, project-based environment.

The Controller will own the financial close process, oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, manage budgets, ensure accurate job costing, and support internal and external audits. This is a high-impact position rated as a critical need (9/10) for the organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Payroll, and Job Costing
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP
  • Support internal and external audits with complete documentation
  • Partner closely with project teams to ensure accurate job costing and financial performance tracking
  • Streamline accounting procedures and help drive operational efficiency
  • Supervise and develop accounting support staff
  • Maintain and improve internal controls

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong experience in construction industry accounting
  • Proficiency with:
    • Vista Viewpoint (ERP)
    • Paylocity (payroll)
  • Expertise in AR, AP, GL, job costing, and payroll
  • Proven experience managing the month-end close and leading accounting operations
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred:

  • CPA certification
